Answers to your commonly asked questions.

Getting a quote

Just give us a call or email us at the links provided at the top of this page, or use the "Contact Us" form. We will set up a time with you to view your space and consult with you on the work that you want done. Quotes usually take 2-3 days to process and will be emailed to you unless otherwise requested. While it is always best to view the space in person, if this is not possible for some reason, we can give an estimate via email if you can provide photos and measurements of the spaces involved.

Rates

There are many variables involved when pricing a job, which is why our quotes are always customized. Some things that can effect pricing are the amount of prep work that is necessary, how accessible the spaces are, how much additional material may be needed, such as extra paint or primer to cover new drywall, drywall that's needed extensive repair, or has bright or bold colours, also how much brushwork is involved in any given space. Additonal charges also apply for things such as disassembling shelves or other fixtures, or moving exceptionally heavy items. If you're working within a particular budget, please let us know and we can discuss how we can work within it.

Paint

Unless you request otherwise, we will provide the paint, and the paint costs will be included in your quote. Unfortunately we cannot provide a guarantee on products that we don't provide. If there is a particular brand or line of paint that you would like us to use, let us know prior to receiving your quote. Unless otherwise arranged, we will use Sherwin Williams products.

How do I choose my colours?

We offer basic colour consultations free of charge. If you request a colour consultation, we will bring a Sherwin Williams fan-deck (or other brand if requested) during the estimate, and we can discuss options that work for your spaces using the principles of colour theory. We offer more in depth colour consultations for a fee, which can include using tester pots directly on the walls, which will allow you to see your colour options in changing light. If you want to do this yourself, we can direct you to the closest Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore store where you can look at their colour swatches, speak to decorators, and purchase tester pots. We also have partners who specialize in Interior Decorating if you are looking for a more complete makeover of your spaces.

What do I do to prepare my house for painting?

We ask that you move any fragile, valuable, and personal items out of the work spaces and declutter the spaces as best you can. We will cover all furniture and surfaces as necessary and move furniture if required.

How Long with the paint job last?

The longevity of a paint job depends on many things, such as how much daily wear and tear the surface gets. For instance, your spare bedroom is probably going to hold up a lot better than your front foyer. How much sunlight a surface is exposed to, whether there is smoking in the area, and the quality and finish of the paint are also factors. If you have tough areas, ask us about products made to be especially durable. That being said, interior paint jobs can last many years if cared for well, while exterior paint has a much shorter lifespan. We recommend having exterior paint refreshed as soon as it begins to show signs of cracking, flaking, or dullness. Repairing exterior paint jobs that have been allowed to deteriorate is much more costly than giving it a coat every few years or so, and also keeps it looking great.
